My kids and I discussed 9/11 on the way to school since they wanted to hear my story... where I was, what I saw, what I felt. A day that for so very many will always feel like it happened yesterday.

Imagine my complete disappointment when my 8th grader returned home and explained that NOTHING was said. NOTHING was done. "The flag wasn't even half-way down like it was supposed to be!"

This local public school will go unmentioned here - but I'm hoping they know who they are. I encouraged my child to write a letter to their student council president and copy the principal to express the disappointment felt not only by my child, but by many of the 8th graders. My child remembers that day too... sitting in a classroom in silence with 14 other kids watching images on television that a teacher (who barely understood herself) tried to explain and reassure them. My child remembers the fear of waiting for me to be recalled even though I had been honorably discharged from the Army...the reality of those times was that they could (and would) take anyone back. My child remembers ... it's evident every time we see a low-flying passenger plane ... and instead of excitement, they feel fear.

Thumbs down to the school for skimming over such an important day in American History.

I too was in college at the time. I got up, got ready for class and headed two doors down to my friends house (we always walked to class together). I walked into the house and everyone was gathered around the TV... I remember saying something like "what's going on?" and everyone SHHHHHed me. I then walked in a bit farther to get a look at the TV and that was when the 2nd plane hit -- my knees about buckled.

I remember my first thought: Is this a dream? I really truly thought I was still sleeping... I couldn't have fathomed something like that ever happening... yet there, before my eyes, it was.

And then the Pentagon got hit. My next thought: Oh my God -- they're targeting government buildings. My mom worked for the fed gov't in Chicago and I immediatly grabbed a phone and dialed her work number -- I couldn't get through. I dialed her cell -- I couldn't get through. I called her coworkers -- I couldn't get through. All signals were busy. I kept expecting to see TV footage of Chicago getting hit. Thank God I didn't. I think it took about two hours to get ahold of her... they had evacuated her building immediately and she just ended up coming home.

Needless to say, I did NOT go to class that day -- we just sat in front of the TV watching a nightmare unfold.

I can not imagine what those affected went through. My prayers and thoughts are with those people yesterday, today and tomorrow. I will NEVER forget.

I DVR'd the show and finally got around to watching it last night, along with the new episode, and I must say I'M IN LOVE! I was a HUGE fan of 90210 make in it's hey day... and I was really looking forward to this new show and I'm glad it didn't disappoint me. I loved that Kelly is back (not so excited about Brenda)... and I'm really curious as to who the father of Kelly's baby is... Brandon? Dylan? Hmmmmm.

I too already have my favorite potential couples: Kelly and Mr. Mathews (he's SO cute), Annie and Ethan... and I love Annie's parents!

So far I think the show is very cute and fun... and I love that Annie's family is so "cute" -- I really hope they stay that way and don't get corrupted by Beverly Hills!

I do have to disagree with one thing, though -- I don't think this show is anything like The Hills... it's less about populartity and glam, and more about Annie and her family bringing a little bit of Kansas values to Beverly Hills... showing people what really matters: family and friends. And I love that Annie and Ethan actually made FUN of The Hills in last night's episode!

I love that The Peach Pit is still there... and that Joe E. Tata is back!!! I always loved Ned! ;)

So what do you think... Brandon or Dylan?

I love Kate! Look, the lady is doing her best with 8 kids and a husband that, well, needs a little push once in a while to get going (like MANY husbands). I only have two kids.... and guess what? They will grow up troubled and traumatized, blaming me for not letting them play with Play-Dough. That's right - it's NEVER been in my house. Why? It's too messy. It's a pain to clean up. And I don't need that kind of stress. They also have to wash their hands... not because I'm an obsessive freak, but because I don't want my kids being "that guy" who just came out of the bathroom without giving soap a thought. (Don't want him shaking MY hand!!) I'll say this: in my house with my two children there is way more yelling & stress, much more chaos, and we haven't gotten to church on time in over 7 months. Kate must be doing something right....
