Monday, July 27th, 2009

I had a great weekend. Filled with all things Summer, live music, good company, and boating. Last minute i got the opportunity to go see COLDPLAY at Alpine Valley. I heard the show is amazing so I didnt want to pass on center row tickets. It was fun, they are good.
So now Monday comes and I am looking in the news for what I missed over the weekend and low and behold…”glitter girl” is all over the internet! ‘She is dead?’…”No she is not?!”

6.5.09 The 2 P’s Friday fun

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Good Friday!  The 2 P’s…Paul and Party.
It’s finally here…The LAKE 961 Birthday bash this weekend! It feels like we have been tlking about this event forever! I hope you can make it out tonight in downtown LG at Champs Sports Bar–please come find me…I would love to meet you.  I will most likely have a LAKE961 T-shirt on ;)

Just some Friday fun…Is Paul Abdul coming back to American Idol? She is ‘not sure’…Watch her interview with Letterman last night here.

More on the Friday fun front… I have always had a ‘thing’ for the Titanic. The story intrigues me. The tragedy that has so many unanswered questions and the stories from the survivors is interesting and powerful.  I found this new piece of the Titanic puzzle to be…neat. This was in the news a few days ago. The last survivor of the Titanic died. She was 2 when she was on the boat… Click here for the article

A big congrats goes out to my friend SARAH who is getting married this weekend! My best forever and always to you in your journey of life together.

Lastly, my niece is coming to visit the LAKE this weekend for the first time. If the weather behaves she will experience her first boat ride! She is the best and I can’t wait.
Summer is my favorite time of year in the Geneva Lakes area. I am lucky to actually live here and enjoy life on the lake.
Create your best weekend and thanks so much for reading my blogs. My intention of sharing is to stay connected with you on a personal level and share ‘all the good stuff’, the good information that will assist you in moving forward in life and love.
For fun, I like to attach some of the celebrity gossip that i talk about on the radio show.
Thank you for checkin in here, I appreciate you.

Me and my red flip flops are off to take your requests for the 90’s show now.

4.22.09 Can we learn something from Susan?

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

I must of been sleeping under a rock to have avoided the Susan Boyle frenzy. I heard people speak of her but I never investigated any further…until today.

She appeared on Britain’s Got Talent show on April 11, 2009. Just a little over 10 days later, the top four You Tube videos of her appearance had been viewed over 45 million times.

This is a remarkable story on so many fronts.  Stories like this is where the ‘life coach in me’ comes out in full force.

I wanted to cry the entire 7 minutes.  I had that ‘choked up’ feeling in my throat the entire time. I think the messages within that moment was simply incredible.

The woman is 47 years old and has never even been on a date! The judges and the audience were actually sneering at her before her performance. After, everyone was in total shock. She has such a full, beautiful voice and even though I have watched the video numerous times, I still find it very emotionally moving.

There are plenty of articles and essays that explore all the different facets of this remarkable story.

But there is one insight I want to share with you. When Simon asked Susan, “What’s your dream?” She replied, “To be a professional singer.” He then followed up with a question about why she was 47 and had never gotten started. Her answer has a very important lesson for everyone. “I’ve never had the right chance before.” She had never before been able to perform before the right audience.

Some might attribute her “overnight success” to luck or good fortune. Earl Nightingale one said that “Luck is when preparedness meets opportunity.” Susan had been preparing for some time and when she finally got the chance to appear before the right audience, she rocked.

Here is the lesson I want you to take away from Susan Boyle’s experience. It does not matter how talented you are, how well you can perform, unless you get in front of the right audience, you can go through life an unknown.

Susan mentioned that she performed as a tribute to her late mother. Her Mom told her to take a risk…and here are her results.

Get in front of the right audience.  Be heard. Take a risk.

You can do it,
Katie

2.13.09 Update on Greys if you care to know

Friday, February 13th, 2009

My last post was a SPOILER alert regarding two cast-offs on Greys Anatomy. Apparently that is a rumor according to Shonda R. the creator. However, in my opinion-They are just being hush hush but those two are out the door. I think it’s true. Here is the article

T.R. Knight, Katherine Heigl Not Leaving Grey’s Anatomy

p.s. I am glad they combined Greys with Private Practice this past week…Greys was getting a little goofy with the whole ‘Denny’ thing. EPIC event wraps up next week on ABC.
A call to COOKS:
I am making a whole beef tenderloin on Saturday and I was wondering if you have any ‘tips’ for cooking this piece of meat in the oven?

Did you send your ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ V-day e-card yet? If not, click here

Love is in the air…and in my kitchen this weekend :)
Happy V-day to all!

2.2.09 Ads to entertain

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Post Superbowl hangover…from soo much FOOD! Wow-So much for my ‘get healthy’ energy. I feel bad this morning for splurging. I could not pass the FOOTBALL Snickers ice cream cake–I tried…I really did…the good ol’ college try…I passed up the cake more than 4 times…then Matt was munching on it and I made the mistake to TRY his piece. You can complete the ending of this story.
Anyhow, I was at a party with mostly Steelers fans–So you can only imagine the roller-coaster of energy the last 5 minutes. It was entertaining.
So I was looking at all the sites for the ADS. I was impressed by (more…)

1.21.09 I pledge…

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

The great Abe Lincoln once said, “Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” Although we cannot “control” events and circumstances around us, we can control our responses to them. This week, choose happiness. And  “be gentle with yourself.” Hope can live on today, tomorrow and next week if you let it.

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher put together the Presidential Pledge video that is inspiring.
What the video and then if your up for it join the pledge…

What’s your pledge?
Mine is to be more loving and BE the difference that raises the bar in people’s consciousness.

To hope-

12.04.08 Complainers

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

I loved this article…wanted to share. Martha Beck is such a fantastic writer…and dare I mention she is Oprah’s life coach!

My best,
Katie

Dealing with complainers who resist your help!

By Martha Beck

(OPRAH.com) – Margaret’s twin girls were halfway through high school when she started thinking about returning to school herself. “I’ve always wanted to finish my degree,” she told me. “Maybe get a master’s, even. I’d like to teach.”

“Cool!” I said. Margaret had been complaining of boredom, and I knew she’d thrive in an academic environment.

“But,” she told me, her voice tightening, “there are problems. Jeff and the girls are used to me being home, cleaning, cooking…”

“Have you talked to them about it?”

9.21.08 Weekend Entertainment: What Ever Happened To?

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

It’s Sunday, and what a beautiful September weekend we are having! I enjoyed a glass of wine and some girl talk with a good friend while watching Made Of Honor-My kind of movie.  (I needed some Katie time this weekend) One of the guys in hte movie was Dwayne Wayne from a Different World. He is the same, expect chunkier. Then I found one of the old Dawson Creek characters in the same show! (I always love to spot the old actors)

Since its the weekend let’s keep it light….I always love those “where are they now” websites. I stumbled upon one on aol-See your favorite tv/movie stars that have disappeared…

WHAT DO THEY LOOK LIKE  NOW

Enjoy what is left of the weekend!
Back to cleaning the house for me :)

9.15.08 Watercooler moments

Monday, September 15th, 2008

I dont know about your office this morning but I walked in to the staff glued to one of the office computers watching the parody of Sarah P from the SNL Premiere this past weekend. Then I got an email with the video…so I figured it was popular enough to make mention of in this space.

I don’t want to hurt any SNL fans feelings but that show had lost my interest after Farley and Sandler.
Could this be a start to a funny Saturday Night Live season…
You decide…

Who knew Saturday Night Live was still this funny?!
